Here's my two-cents:
Cast: Slumdog Millionaire--haven't seen it, and, for some reason, the previews don't make it very appealing to me.

Actor in a leading role: Sean Penn, Milk--A truly brilliant actor who, I think, is sometimes overlooked because of his political activism. But he is brilliant.

Actress in a leading role: Meryl Streep, Doubt--J'adore la Streep in anything. She is perfection.

Supporting actor: Heath Ledger, The Dark Knight--Absolutely crazy as The Joker....crazy good.

Supporting actress: Kate Winslet, The Reader--She is an English Meryl Streep to me; she does not seem to make bad movies.

Television:

Drama series cast: Mad Men--Love that show, because Jon Hamm is my new est boyfriend. Manly man, and I like him, too.

Actor in a drama series: Hugh Laurie, House--Never seen the show. The only hospital show I ever enjoyed was St. Elsewhere.

Actress in a drama series: Sally Field, Brothers & Sisters--I caught her speech and it was just shy of 'You like me! Right now, you really like me!' But I do like her. Sybil, anyone?

Comedy Series cast: 30 Rock--Chaos is funny.

Actor in a comedy series: Alec Baldwin, 30 Rock--My favorite quoatble line is the one where he's asked why he's wearing a tux, and he says, 'It's after 6. What am I? A Farmer?'

Actress in a comedy series: Tina Fey, 30 Rock--She really is the brilliance behind the show.

Actor in a movie or miniseries: Paul Giamatti, John Adams--We are watching the DVD of John Adams and Giamatti deserves every award he gets.

Actress in a movie or miniseries: Laura Linney, John Adams==Same goes for Linney. I've loved her since 'Tales of the City.'

I agree with you about Kate Winslet. She's wonderful in the Meryl category. I also think Sean Penn is an excellent actor. I haven't seen Milk and the Winslet movies yet but will before the awards.

I feel the same way about Slumdog Millionaire but want to check it out because of all the attention it's getting.

Tina Fey IS 30 Rock. Without her contribution, it wouldn't be the show it is. She's brilliant!

I saw John Adams and loved it. Yes, they deserve all the awards they can win.

Sally Field just can't help it, can she? :-)

I watch House only because of Hugh Laurie. I've been a huge fan since Blackadder and Jeeves and Wooster with Stephen Fry.

Heath Ledger took that role to a place its never been. I liked Dark Knight really well and was blown away with his performance.

I loved that Alec Baldwin line in 30 Rock, too!

I've seen Mad Men a few times and am going to have to rent the DVD because I missed too much of it. Good show.

Joy and Bob, I saw Slumdog Millionaire over the weekend and it is very good. Definitely worth seeing.

I agreed with pretty much all of the winners.

I just have one question. Why did Katie Holmes present best actor in a motion picture?

I still have seen none of the movies but have the greatest respect for all of the actors (nominated and winners). Did anyone see the James Earl Jones thing? I love him (hello Darth Vader and Mufasa) but he seemed so stiff up there. Thanks for the run down. Still not going to see any depressing movies. I will take all of your words for it.
