Our PBS station is showing the Clearwater Concert celebrating Pete Seeger's 90th birthday. I'm enjoying a lot of people from my folk music days, such as Arlo Guthrie, Joan Baez, Ramblin' Jack Elliott, Richie Havens, and many more. Bruce Springsteen, Steve Earle, Dave Matthews, Ani DiFranco, Emmylou Harris, Kris Kristofferson, Taj Mahal, Roger McGuinn, John Mellancamp, Ben Harper, and Del McCoury were some other performers. It's quite a line-up. Have any of you seen it? Also have you heard or seen Béla Fleck perform? He can do things with a banjo that are incredible.
Pete Seeger is a national treasure. He is a man who loves his country and has always pointed out how we can be better and worked for it his whole life.
I'm teaching Brendan many of these songs, such as "Blowin' in the Wind," "This Land is Your Land," "Wild Rover," "If I Had A Hammer," and "Where Have All the Flowers Gone?" We sing them and many others when he visits. See how we can pass along our lives to our grandchildren, Ms. Moon? You have glorious times ahead!
