Metro Nashville Chief of Police Ron Serpas gave a press conference this afternoon on the murder investigation of Steve McNair. They have concluded that it was a murder/suicide and that Sahel Kazemi shot him four times when he was sitting on the couch asleep. Then she sat on the couch beside him and shot herself in the temple positioning herself to fall into his lap when she died.
Kazemi was barely 20 years old (underage) and bought a 9 mm pistol for $100 in a parking lot of the mall where she worked as a waitress at a restaurant McNair and his family used to go. It's just too easy to buy guns. She bought this one a few days before she killed them and a day before she was stopped for a DUI. According to friends, she heard he was seeing another woman and told someone her life was messed up and that she was going to end it all. This was a tragedy in all kinds of ways.
I feel bad for his wife and children. It's hard enough to get over a death but a murder is even worse. Then on top of all that, she has to deal with adultery, indiscreet vacations and going out, the girlfriend's being the murderer, and helping their children cope with it, too.
More about all this HERE.
I'm thinking people should watch Fatal Attraction at least once a year as a deterrent. Yes, I do realize this is an inappropriate illustration.

sad, just sad
Such a waste. Thanks for the update. I cannot imagine. I do hope he is remembered for the good stuff but I have a feeling that this is a pipe dream.
Save the Bunny!!!!
XOXOXOXO
Making people watch Fatal Attraction may be an effective deterrent after all. It's a shame what happened to him, but its really bad for those left behind to pick up the pieces.
You didn't let me down, David! I knew you'd save the bunny!
"It's just too easy to buy guns. She bought this one a few days before she killed them and a day before she was stopped for a DUI."
You DO understand that she bought this gun illegally, right? This could have happened even if there were stricter gun laws. I know it's a clichè, but the only people that are affected by constricting our Constitutional rights concerning the 2nd amendment are those who follow laws in the 1st place and are more likely to be responsible gun owners. That would leave only irresponsible people with guns. I'm not comfortable living in that world...
Good idea about Fatal Attraction...
Of course I know she bought the gun illegally, Debi. I said she bought it from someone in a parking lot and was underage along with it. That's illegal on several levels. It's also too easy to buy drugs illegally, and I could make a long list of other examples of criminal activities readily available.
It's also illegal to kill someone.
We don't agree on your interpretation of the 2nd Amendment just like we don't agree on most issues, so I won't bother to get into all that with you.
guns do not kill people. people kill people. I hate guns, and will never ever own one. Terrible tragedy. Joy, the news kept saying he was such a good man. Amazing. If it had been just the opposite and it was his wife foolin around and got herself murdered, then she would have been a whore.
Good point, Sam. His funeral was on all the local stations tonight, and I watched some of it. The minister said some good things, though, like referring to the elephant in the room and saying those without sin should cast the first stone and elaborated on that by saying there needs to be a putting down of stones. Then he said the main question people were asking was if and gave examples. He recited "If" by Kipling and said a lot more in that cadence and rhythm of black preachers. It was an all out Baptist service. Team members and Jeff Fisher gave eulogies that brought laughter and tears about memories.
He was a good football player and did a lot for Nashville. It's too bad he couldn't keep it in his pants. I'm just glad this wasn't an honor killing from her family member since this girlfriend was Iranian. The Muslim community in Nashville doesn't need that. The people who own Hot Kabobs where I eat often are wonderful people, and we have good conversations.
About guns - I've never been in a position where I had to defend myself and don't plan to start now. The only reason to have hand guns is to shoot people. I don't want one and don't want to shoot anyone. I don't want to get shot by one, either, but being armed isn't likely to prevent that.
