The Ears of Maine

After Charlie and I had known each other a while and had progressed to talking on the phone, I asked him what part of Maine he lived in, the face, nose, or ears. He was momentarily speechless and asked me what I was talking about. (I get that often.) I explained that since Maine is shaped like a hand shadow rabbit, there are those of us who think of it as divided into those areas. Apparently, that's not a widespread concept. Perhaps I explained it better to Al in the Country or maybe because he's also not a native Maineiac, but he answered right away and typed, "the ears." Btw, Charlie lives in the neck of Maine. Is Kennebunkport under the chin?

See? What do you think?

I think it was either Jeff Foxworthy (or maybe Bill Engvall) who told a joke about asking people in Michigan where in the state they live, and how they always show you their hand as a visual aid. He said he's just glad that these sorts don't live in Miami...

Yeah, we people "from away" definitely look at things differently than the Mainers do...

Hmmmm. What do you see when you look at the state of Washington?

That's funny, Debi! And true!

I don't make pictures out of the other states except for FL. I describe TN as a parallelogram. Otherwise, I haven't been able to come up with anything.

I'm sure that's true, Al, of all natives and newcomers.

Yeah, David, I know! LOL

I still find it pretty far fetched but i have seen the shape of our state for so many years it is probably hard to use new eyes. But it means you were thinking of me...so i love you for it.
