Is it just me or do those Charles Schwab commercials with the interpolated rotoscope animated people creep you out? I can't watch them.
It's a fascinating process, and somehow what I've seen of movies animated that way doesn't bother me as much, but then I've only seen snippets of them a couple of times.

"Interpolated rotoscope?!" And you know what that is?! Auntie Flame, you are scaring me as much as those commercials!
They creep me out also.
I could be wrong, but I thought I read somewhere that companies don't have to pay residuals to the actors who "appear" in these commercials - since they only appear in animated form and not "live". Did I make that up??
Maybe I'm just having a "Bernice Moment"...
Love you ... love your hair!!!
XOXOXOXOXOXOXO
No, they creep me out too! And I don't like the movies either girl!
I called my son to ask him the name of the process. I had seen on TV how they do it but didn't know what it was called. He knows things like that. Does that help?
That wouldn't surprise me at all, David. I googled and didn't find much but didn't spend a lot of time on it. One article said actors worked for scale on Scanner, so they probably get paid initially and then no residuals for the commercials. Wall Street types - go figure.
You shouldn't see my hair right now! You wouldn't love it!
xoxoxoxox
I'm glad to know I'm not alone on this! Thanks, Maddie! :-)
Ditto on the Creep-O factor.
But as my communications prof would have said - you remembered the name of the company who had them made - Charles Schwab - and that's all that counts in advertising.
Speaking of - Charles Schwab - very famous dyslexic made good. Site for kids -

HATE those commercials. They bug me! I'm happy to know that I'm not alone in my dislike for them. :)
I avoid most animated things on screen. They are becoming popular though and I don't like that they are invading the commercial world so much. When the promote so and so for doing a voice over character, I am still not impressed. as a matter of fact, when I DO see the movie, I like it less recognizing the voice and trying to assimilate the know actor into the character in cartoon, if that makes any sense.
I don't care for them, either. I don't have a BAD reaction to them, but I don't like them at all.
However, I'd like to state here that I unequivocally HATE the Burger King commercials, especially where that creep is blowing an air horn and waking people out of a sound sleep. The Burger King is a sick, sadistic bastard.
I find them fascinating and beautiful and would love to learn how to do that. Haven't watched any of the movies yet, though...
Well, it looks like Debi and I are the oddballs, because I kind of like them, too. I find them dascinating to watch, but If DD is right and it's done so as not to pay residuals to actors, then, well, I am not such a fan.
The first time I saw one, I was impressed only because I love animations, I myself like to convert pics into animations. What I do not like is the metaphor behind those Commercials; the so called transformation of the regular middle class men or woman, into a comic figure with the potential of having super human powers is way misleading. Here we are on a fucking financial mess, produced by investing companies like Charles Schwab, and we are supposed to believe that Scwab's Scammers can make my finances grow to the point of making me a super human. After they run away with people pensions, and life savings, we are nsupposed to believe that they can made us into super heroes? Right, Fuck Schwab, excuse my french, they are liars.
Beth is that you shouting, Impressive. I like that tone.
Sorry Ms. Joy I could not resist and thank you for bringing this topic.
I like your rant, lelocolon, and agree wholeheartedly! Way to go!
LOL I know what you mean, Beth! I hate that "zoom, zoom, zoom" one! And am trying to forget the kind of car it is.
