President Obama

I just love writing and saying President Obama! It's so refreshing to hear him speak and watch him interact with humor and grace. I watched his speech tonight and smiled. Zachary Coile wrote, "President Obama, in his first speech to Congress, acted as the nation's scolder-in-chief: He scolded unscrupulous lenders who took advantage of borrowers. He scolded borrowers for buying homes they couldn't afford. He scolded students who drop out of high school. And he scolded policymakers for refusing to make hard choices."

Reactions to his speech were extremely positive from both Democrats and Republicans. Polls have shown that people believe that Obama is trying to work with the Reps but that they are not cooperating with him because of politics instead of disagreeing with him so much. They are not putting themselves in a favorable position ::cough:: Gov. Jindal.

Gov. Jindal is putting himself in a VERY favorable position with those of us who think that this porkulous package is an assinine attempt to solve problems created by gov't spending too much money by, um, spending more outrageous amounts of money. How can that sort of mindset EVER make sense? If there's one thing I can credit Obama for, it's getting conservatives (notice I didn't say "Republicans") so fired up and motivated to create REAL change in this country. I would be very surprised if there weren't some big changes in the makeup of Congress after the elections in 2010, and hopefully a real conservative leader will emerge between now and 2012. President Jindal, maybe?

if Jindal speaks for the Republicans, it all sounded as if they want exactly the same things the Democrats propose, but they don't like who's going to pay for it- perhaps their rich sponsors instead of the poor and middle class for a change. Because the sceptre has changed hands...it's all wasted spending yet I belive the Republicans started the bail out process themselves last year and couldn't account for 350 billion already.
And I can't say I would want to listen to the brand of public speaking Jindel gave last night. Is he a wind up doll or something?

Jindal is the new Repugnant Lap Dog.
Say anything to get elected Republicanism.
Gets old, never, sadly, dies.

If the Conservatives can take back the Republican Party and be the way they were before they drove the country into the ground, that might be OK. If, however, they are going to do the same things that got us into this mess when the Republicans were in power in all branches of the government, then why should we listen to them now?

Obama's only been in office a month. Interesting how you people can rewrite history so soon! There was a surplus when W came into office and more debt than we even know about now. Something has to be done. W bankrupted the country the way he did every business he ran.

At least give Obama a chance, Debi. Reps have admitted they messed up, so why sound like Hannity, O'Reilly, Rush, the Coultergeist, and Elisabeth the Twit? Check more than one source. You don't know this plan is going to make things worse. It hasn't had time to make any changes yet.

And the Republican Party needs to quit pandering to and manipulating the Evangelicals. Those people are dangerous!

I totally agree, Joy!

"You people", "Those people"... careful now, Joy... :)

I've seen Obama's politics for the last 2 years while he's been running. He's determined to drive us into socialism. His turns of phrase give an inkling into what he thinks of the American people. He didn't say, for instance, that he would have no double standards for the people in his Cabinet (regarding all the tax cheats he keeps nominating), but that he didn't want to send the message that there was a double standard. There's a big difference in the two statements. And it's not the only time he's said something like that. It's all about perception vs. substance with him, and I'm not buying it.

Btw, I didn't see the Jindal speech the other night, but I heard from various sources that he didn't do well. I would agree that if he's gonna go further in politics, that he will need to shore up his public speaking abilities. However, I've heard him speak off-the-cuff often enough that I know that I agree more than I disagree with his principles...

President Obama will make some mistakes and this package isn't perfect; however, this is the worst financial condition we've been in for a very long time. It's scary how many people have lost their jobs and are homeless. Drastic measures are needed.

As I said before, if the Republicans had such good ideas for solving this, why didn't they do it when they were in control of all branches? Instead, the rich got richer and everybody else paid for it.

Now do we need to compare Obama's and Bush's cabinets?
