Tires

One of my tires was low, so I went by a place near my house to get air in it. The guy asked if I knew my tires were worn out with the steel showing through. No, I didn't because I forget to check them, so I went to this place where I buy tires. New owner. That turned out well because he used to work at the place where I get my car serviced. I wondered what happened to him. He ordered some good tires that are Korean - Kumho brand. I went by Friday morning to have them put on and the oil changed. That's good because now they're on the same schedule. That sticker on the windshield will remind me, and I'll go there and get the oil changed and tired checked at the same time. Maybe I'll finally keep up with this and not erase the tread on my tires because they are out of alignment and haven't been balanced and rotated. I'm not a responsible car owner and must change my evil ways!

Glad that you had them changed before you had a blowout, and/or accident.

Daughter actually had a flat tire on the freeway yesterday and had to hike back to an exit - she doesn't keep her cell phone charged...

That's why I bought new tires immediately! Scared me!

I, too, am a bad, bad car owner. Amazing to think my car has lasted 13 years.

Here in the Olde Worlde, we have to have our cars checked every year (after age of three years - should be every year in my view). Bit like the smog test in California, but much more comprehensive. Everything is checked, brakes, lights, too much rust and down to windshield washer levels! My experience in CA and Florida would suggest that many cars there would fail! You cannot get insurance or tags without a Certificate of Testing.
One final point - a tyre (tire)!) over here is more than three times as expensive as the US. That's partially because we are legally allowed to drive our cars at up to 155 mph in Germany. But only 70 mph in the UK, but many cars are capable of 155 mph, so tyres have to be up to it.

I have to thank Carlos for being the repsonsible car owner in our family.
I let things like car maintenance slide, and he gets things done.
