Poet and Trendsetter

In 1840, poet Henry Wadsworth Longfellow became the first American to have plumbing installed in his house.

His wife caught on fire and died. His face and hands were scarred when he tried to put the fire out. Just a little-known fact I taught my students. Always with the trivia!
