Computer Trivia

A chip of silicon a quarter-inch square has the capacity of the original 1949 ENIAC computer, which occupied a full city block.

The first machine I worked on was a 1959 IBM 1401 with 8K memory... you could watch the numbers going round! It occupied about 500 sq ft with all it's cooling requirements.
Used to set up a 'job', then retire to the parking lot to play cricket for an hour....
