Holly Spencer did it again! She and Jeremy presented their last supper of the season with another wonderfully delicious meal. I hope they will do this again before next spring, but if not, I'll definitely be there for the next ones. In the meantime, I'm available if they ever want to invite me to their house to eat - or perhaps send me their leftovers. (I found out they read my blog and am shameless.) Everything I had tonight was wonderful.
This is the menu for tonight with an asterisk by what I ordered. What about you?
STARTERS
* Apple Gruyere Soup
Flatbreads with savory eggplant and goat cheese
SALADS
* Shaved Melon Salad on spinach and arugula with feta and toasted pine nuts in a house-made vinaigrette
Late Summer Panzanella made with red and yellow tomatoes, basil, red onions, and over-sized parmesan croutons
ENTREES
*Bistro Pot Pie
A new twist on an old Southern favorite: Sweet and spicy curry mix with chicken, sweet potatoes, and edamame under a whole-wheat crust. Accompanied by roasted corn on the cob. (Carl, Matt, and I had this.)
Tomato and Balsamic Barbequed Pork Chops
Slow roasted pork in a tangy fresh tomato sauce. Served atop roasted garlic smashed potatoes. (Tina has this and really liked it.)
Butternut Squash Ravioli
Home-made ravioli in a sage brown-butter sauce with cranberries and walnuts. Served with a side of roasted asparagus. (Paige had this and said it was delicious.)
DESSERT
Pumpkin Crisp with pecans and whipped cream
* Profiteroles in a rich chocolate hazelnut sauce, topped with toasted almonds and whipped cream. (These are little creme puffs. I didn't know that.)

It all sounds so delicious! And it looks like you made excellent choices.
How was the soup? It sounds interesting.
Love you ... love your dinners!!
XOXOXOXO
Definitely same choices as you except I think I would have liked the pork chops.all are interesting choices and just a remarkable intuition for flavor combos.
I just learned last week what edamame is and want to try it...if I can find it up here. I had it on a list of questions for my gourmet guests last night who are simply jaded from fancy restaurants and their own recipes.
I have to admit though, Judy still makes the best American chop suey in the country. Having raised two boys, she knows all about hunky foods.
Love that you publish these menus, but wish you were here at my suppah! These folks would just love you.
The soup was creamy with some finely chopped raw apples and the grated cheese sprinkled on the top. I wondered how it would taste, and it was delicious!
I wish I could have been at your dinner party, too, Charlie. I think this was the first time I ate endamame but might have had them when I worked at that vegan restaurant part-time.
I wish I liked to cook and would prepare dishes like these.
Here's my order:
Flatbreads with savory eggplant and goat cheese
Late Summer Panzanella made with red and yellow tomatoes, basil, red onions, and over-sized parmesan croutons
Butternut Squash Ravioli
Home-made ravioli in a sage brown-butter sauce with cranberries and walnuts. Served with a side of roasted asparagus. (Paige had this and said it was delicious.) actually, I'd have tried to score a sampler of all three, I chose the one I did right now but at any given time, I could order any of the three
Profiteroles in a rich chocolate hazelnut sauce, topped with toasted almonds and whipped cream
I know what you mean, Chris. Everyone teased me about how long it took to make up my mind. Wonder if I can get a sampler plate next time? Good idea!
Dearest Joy -
I agree with Chris - ask for the Pu-Pu Platter next time.
:)
P.S. - That soup sounds GOOD.
