Blog Question
I wonder why they have all this space on each side of these templates? The actual space for the post is smaller with everything crammed into the middle of the page with all this wasted space on the sides where we could have had a wider part for the post and some space to post photos, links, etc. Just wondering.

Isn't it the space they use for advertisements (if you sign up for them)? That's my guess...
But as you know from the computer geek quiz - I don't know NOTHIN'.
XOXOXOXOXO
Oh, it might be. Well, I want to use my space the way I want to but cheated on my computer geek test and have no idea how to change the code.
I have no idea - good point! Gime gimme more space I say!
I don't like the way our lost space affects the way some things (i.e. photos) appear in posts. I don't know enough code to be able to do anything about it, and I definitely do not have the time to figure it out.
I agree with Sailor...I don't like how pictures don't match our design nor that we cannot, without html experience, comment on pictures as we post them. I admire the people who can.
I want my previews to turn out as I see them and place them, but they change on the actual blog posting.
isn't it wonderful that we complain about a free service in the first place. too funny
I know! On the older templates there was enough room to post pictures of various sizes. I have no clue how to widen all this, but it would help. That room for the posts is too narrow. Someone probably knows how to do it, but as you can see from my score, I'm barely a computer user!
Okay, from my geek-side:
You can customize the 2-column template to make it 3-column, but it requires that you know a bit of html. I've thought about it, but am too lazy and don't want to re-insert all my add-ons.
The width (or narrowness) of the columns is actually done to facilitate reading online. i.e. It's easier to read short lines of a few inches than it is to read longer lines of text. It's easier on the eyes and on the reader. It's the same reason that extra paragraph breaks, even when not necessary, add to the readability of a blog.
It used to be that Blogger would take all sizes of photos and shrink "to fit", but then they changed their settings and now photos get cropped to fit (and not always in the right places) if they aren't uploaded in the correct size.
So, ends my geek session. :-)
p.s. Joy, I like the new avatar with silver hair!
Thanks, Ell! It looks more like me than the other one. Wow, you know stuff about computers!
