Prez Trivia

Not until Herbert Hoover became U.S. president in 1929 did the U.S. chief executive have a private telephone in his office. The booth in a White House hallway had served as the president’s private phone before one was installed in the Oval Office.

  1. Can you imagine?
I remember the phone, in the hallway, having a telephone table and that's where you talked.

  2. That's how it was when I was growing up, too. A central dial phone with a cord that would reach the short distance to the stairs leading to my room when I was a teenager. I could close the door and have a bit of privacy. Remember the freedom with a long cord? Then the cordless phone was so freeing!

There are so many times I think about how it was before we had cell phones and how they could have helped in many situations.
