There are 40,000 muscles and tendons in an elephant’s trunk. This makes it very strong and flexible, allowing an elephant to pluck a delicate flower, untie a knot, or tear a tree out of the ground; yet the trunk is sensitive enough to smell water 3 miles away.

ReplyDeleteI love elephants. They are probably my favorite animal. They are just so gorgeous. I rode one once at a circus when I was young. I think I'll always remember that.

Last year I was at the circus with my students, and I tell you not there was this elephant that kept staring at me, like telling me do something get me out of here. It was horrible I kept thinking that I wanted to scream and not with cheers. They are magnificent creatures. Thank you for posting about them. ReplyDeleteI used to love elephants until the news media started flashing every time one went wild and killed. Now I see them and oftentimes have a scared feeling.
