H1N1 Virus

Flu season is upon us and sounds scary. It's making me a bit concerned about that cruise in October. That's a lot of people in one place, and we're going to Mexico. The flu shots aren't available yet, are they?

  2. The regular flu shot should be available soon; the swine flu shot is supposed to have limited availability starting in October. Check cdc.gov for the guidelines of who should get each shot. I wouldn't panic yet...the possibility exists that swine flu could be nasty, but that's not a guarantee. Hugs, Beth

  3. Thanks for talking me down. I'd better be sure I keep my diabetes in control. I do know how the media can blow things out of proportion. Thanks again.

  4. The swine flu almost destroyed the Mexican tourist industry and FOR NO REASON! There was not one validated case of the swine flu on all of the Yucatan Peninsula, and yet- cruise ships did not dock in Cozumel for months.
Do not be part of the fear. You have more chance of getting H1N1 at your local grocery than you do in Mexico. Besides- if you were born before 1967, the odds of you getting it are low.

  5. Ms. Moon, I am more concerned about getting it around here or on the cruise ship than in Mexico. I thought about that after I posted that and almost went back and deleted that part. It's a roll of the dice about getting any kind of flu.
