Cats have amazing hearing ability. A cat’s ear has 30 muscles that control the outer ear (by comparison, human ears only have 6 muscles). These muscles rotate 180 degrees, so the cat can hear in all directions without moving its head.Just as we always suspected, they really are ignoring us.
Wow! That's amazing.
ReplyDeleteI don't know if my cats are ignoring me, of, well, maybe I just bore them.
ReplyDeleteThe Labrador Girls say they aren't impressed and when will people know that cats are really members of C.A.T. - Canine Attack Terrorists.
ReplyDeleteI can't say that I'm surprised. Sometimes I'll see an ear twitch, but no other movement. Yep. I'm being ignored.
ReplyDeleteHow do my outdoor cats know which window I am sitting at? Powerful sense of smell or what?
ReplyDeleteYou boring, Bob? Never!
ReplyDeleteThe Lab Girls are just jealous, but that is a funny acronym, FP! :-)
The ear twitch, oh yes, major sign, especially with the eyes closed, Beth.
Gigi, I've wondered that, too. My cat (indoor) can find me no matter how quiet I am in whatever room I'm in. She also seems to know where I'm going and gets under my feet on the way there.
cats, adolescents, wives, husbands, etc All become experts at selective hearing.DID YOU HEAR THAT?
ReplyDeleteHuh?
ReplyDeleteI definitely believe the hearing thing with Mia hearing only what she cares to hear. Love the cat photos.
